St. Michael's Cathedral

Bridgetown Barbados Tourist Information and Vacation Guide

St. Michael's Cathedral is the historic church located in downtown Bridgetown.  The Anglican church was originally constructed in the mid 1600s but was subsequently destroyed by hurricanes twice and rebuilt.

Some believe that George Washington once worshipped at St. Michael's during his one and only trip outside the United States.  This, however, has never been verified.

When visiting the cathedral, make a point of walking through the adjacent graveyard.  A number of famous people are buried here, including the country's first prime minister.

St. Michael's Cathedral is located on Spry Street, just east of the Parliament Buildings.
